JIM OVIA, BSc, MBA
Chairman

Jim Ovia is Co-Founder and pioneer Managing Director/CEO of Zenith Bank Plc. He has over 23 years banking experience, including IMB, where he rose from the level of financial analyst in 1980 to a management position in 1987. He headed corporate finance department of Merchant Bank of Africa, 1987 to 1990.

He gained early experience in the use of computer in 1977 when he worked as a part-time computer operator at Baton Rouge Bank & Trust Company, Louisiana.

Jim Ovia is currently serving on the board of various organisations, including: Nigerian Investment Promotion Council, Nigerianet (British Council Internet Portal, Lagos), Redeemer’s University, Lagos (under formation). He is the proprietor of University of Information and Communication Technology, Agbor, Delta State (under formation). He had also served on the board of American International School, Lagos (2001-2003) and a profound leadership role as the first President of Nigeria Internet Group (NIG) (2001-2003).

In November 2000, Jim Ovia was conferred with the national award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) by the President, Federal Government of Nigeria. He had earlier received the Zik Award for professional leadership in April 1999.

Jim Ovia has a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from University of Louisiana, Louisiana in 1979 and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Southern University, Louisiana, 1977. He is also an alumnus of Executive Education of Harvard University.

Jim Ovia is a motivational speaker and has delivered speeches at CTO, African IT and Conferences. He has authored several published and unpublished works. He is in the vanguard of promotion and propagation of ICT in Nigeria.


GRACE ALELE WILLIAMS

Mrs. Williams made her mark as a first class academician and later proved herself as a skilled administrator, she is one of the first Nigerian women to obtain a PhD in mathematics. She was also the country's first female vice-chancellor (University of Benin 1985-1991).

Born in Warri December 16, 1932, she attended the prestigious Queens College, Yaba from where she went on to the University of Ibadan, the University of Vermount and later, University of Chicago, both in the United States of America. In 1974 she became the first female professor of mathematics.

In 1973, she was the chairman of the curriculum review committee. She is a member of the governing council of UNESCO Institute of Education, consultant to UNESCO and Institute of International Education Planning as well as member of Africa mathematics programme at Newton Massachusetts USA. She has also being a vice-president of the World Organisation for Early Childhood Education. Alele-Williams was also on the Vision 2010 committee. A consumate author on mathematics, she is a director of Chevron Nigeria Limited. National honours include Order of the Niger 1987.


VINCENT EBUH

Mr. Ebuh is a successful and respected petroleum engineering consultant in Nigeria. An alumni of Harvard Business School and Oxford University with over 30 years global oil and gas experience. He is one of the first Nigerians to venture into engineering oil services. Currently he is the Chairman and Managing Director of the Petrolog Group, comprising, Petrolog International, Petrolog Oil and Gas Limited, both based in Isle of Man, Petrolog Limited in Nigeria, Petrolog De Venezuela; based in Caracas, Petrolog Ecuador CA Ecuador, and President of George Stevens Resources and GSR Global Inc. based in Houston USA. He is also the Chairman of the Board Travmatix.com (interstate4u.com) Inc. based in Ashland Kentucky, USA.


GODWIN EMEFIELE, BSc, MBA
Director

Godwin Emefiele was appointed the Bank’s Deputy Managing Director in 2001. Prior to this appointment, he was the Bank’s Executive Director in charge of Corporate Banking, Treasury, Financial Services and Strategic planning and has been on Zenith’s Management team since inception.

Mr. Emefiele has eighteen year’s banking experience, and holds a Bsc. and an MBA in Finance, both from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Before commencing his banking career. He has lectured Finance and Insurance at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, and University of Port Harcourt, respectively. He is also an alumnus of Executive Education at Stanford University, Harvard University and Wharton Graduate Schools of Business.


PETER AMANGBO, B. Eng, MBA, ACA
Director

Mr Amangbo is an Executive Director in the Bank. He graduated with a B.Eng. in Electrical/Electronics from University of Benin in 1988 and holds an MBA. He worked in PricewaterHouseCoopers, before moving over to Zenith Bank Plc in 1993.

He has over 16years postgraduate experience out of which he spent 12years in the banking industry and 4years experience in PricewaterHouseCoopers.


ELIAS IGBIN-AKENZUA, BSc, FCA
Director

Elias Igbin -Akenzua is an Executive Director in charge of Oil/Gas Multinationals, middle market and commercial banking departments of the bank. He graduated with a B.Sc. Accounting in 1988 from the University of Benin and holds an MBA.

He had earlier worked in the Bank’s Treasury/ Financial Institutions and Corporate Banking Departments. A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), he worked with the Audit/Financial service arm of PricewaterHouseCoopers for 4 years before moving over to Zenith Bank Plc in January 1993. He has over 16 years Postgraduate experience out of which he spent 12 years in the banking industry. He is an Alumnus of Exective Education at Insead, Fountanbleu, France and Wharton Graduate School of Business, USA.


ADAORA UMEOJI

Adaora holds a Bachelors degree in Sociology from the University of Jos and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Calabar. She is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria (ICPAN).
She has extensive experience, which span over several years of covering various department of the bank ranging from Customer Service, Treasury and Credit & Marketing. She has won numerous awards for service excellence and business development in the bank. She has attended a number of offshore courses including an Executive Education programme on Strategic Thinking and Management for Competitive Advantage at Wharton Business School, Pennsylvania, USA in 2002. She also attended the Harvard Business School Executive Education (OPM) in 2004.

She is the Regional/Group Director of the bank heading the Abuja Zone, which has the responsibility of managing the large corporates, high net worth individuals and Private and Public Sector relationship, in the Federal Capital Territory.


OSADEBE OSAKWE, BSc (Accountancy), MSC, ACA.
Director

Mr. Osakwe graduated with a BSc in Accountacy in 1990 and a Masters Degree in Banking and Finance in 1992.

He joined Zenith Bank in 1993 and currently he is the Head of Investment Banking/Corporate Finance Group and has over 15 years post graduate experience.

Osadebe is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an alumnus of the Advanced Management Programme of the Lagos business School and the Strategy Programme of the London business School.


APOLLOS IKPOBE, HND, MSc, FCA
Director

He is is an Executive Director in the Bank. He graduated HND, Distinction in 1987 from the Yaba College of Technology. He also has a Masters in Banking and Finance from the University of Lagos.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He joined the service of the Bank in February 1992. He has over 17 years of Postgraduate experience out of which he spent 5 years in reputable Audit firms and about 12 years in the banking industry.
